Overview

Over the past four years, the team at CJM Lumina have supported South of Scotland Enterprise in the delivery of key business advisory services across the region.

Brief

Appreciating that each region in Scotland has its own priorities to address through its economic development strategy, we were delighted to begin work with South of Scotland Enterprise, in our capacity to advise businesses on a range of topics.

Businesses in the South of Scotland operate across a range of sectors that may not be obvious for a largely rural region, including:

  • Food and drink
  • Tourism and hospitality
  • Medicine and science
  • Manufacturing and design
  • Sports and leisure
  • Heritage
  • Social enterprise
  • Accommodation
  • Construction

Across each individual sector, we are tasked with the delivery of support across the following areas:

  • Business plan preparation
  • Financial strategy
  • Due diligence
  • Drafting of funding applications (private and public sector grants and loans)

Delivery

We’ve worked with South of Scotland Enterprise to craft a well-honed process that allows us to deliver targeted and effective support in a way that delivers maximum value for money.

Working with each advisor, we ask the right questions to fully understand each client’s needs, before getting in touch with the client within 24 hours. We then deliver the required support, which often relates to accessing SOSE loan and grant funding.

Not only does this way of working provide maximum impact for the agency, but also provides a smooth and efficient journey for each business.

Results

Over the course of three years, we have delivered over 25 interventions, supporting businesses and third-sector organisations with advisory services across a number of business areas and sectors. We have also played an integral role in the allocation of almost £5m of grant and loan funding, across that same period.
