Overview

As Covid 19 caused widespread lockdowns and impacted the economy, the Scottish and UK governments developed a grant scheme to support rateable businesses. East Renfrewshire Council’s Economic Development Team is small, so they requested support from CJM Lumina to assess and provide due diligence across the 800 grant applications received.

Brief

With £10 million in grants to be delivered to businesses across the region, CJM Lumina was to act as an extension of the council’s Economic Development Team, providing similar expertise in the review and assessment of grant funding applications.

Delivery

The CJM Lumina team reviewed over 800 grant applications, with direct assessment of 400 of these. We worked closely with multiple departments within the local authority, ensuring we operated in partnership and maintained open communication lines with all parties involved.

With many businesses across the region struggling to survive the challenges posed by Covid, the grant’s funds needed to be delivered quickly and efficiently. The expertise of the team ensured everything happened in a timely manner.

Results

Over 700 grants were paid to businesses across East Renfrewshire. The review of applications combined with due diligence was a time-intensive task, but one that was completed accurately and efficiently to ensure the vital support was delivered quickly.
